#4 - Term Limits

“There needs to be new blood elected at every election.”

Avoid special interests - Incumbents claim that continuity and job experience are good things. Most often, though, reelection merely indicates that special interests paid for the campaign. Continuity and technical expertise are the province of career staff, not elected officials.

Comply with Brown Act open meetings - I advocate term limits for council members because I believe the overwhelming number of unanimous votes points to decisions being made by council members in some form out of the public view.

Fresh eyes and ideas - Change (for the better) can only come by renewing the sources of ideas.

Prevents empires and expensive monument-building by politicians - Serve once, go back to productive endeavors in the private sector, and enjoy the fruits of your labor in the livable, family friendly community Manteca should be.

The only exception should be one term as mayor after one term as councilman.
